Applying and approval
Who can apply?
Malaysian citizens and permanent residents aged 21 to 60 with a steady income and a Malaysian bank account in their own name. For the SME Business Loan, your business must be registered with SSM for at least 1 year.
How long does it take to get an offer?
The form takes about 3 minutes. After you submit, send us the ready-made WhatsApp message and your adviser usually replies within 1 working hour to go through your details. Your offer is confirmed after our licensed lending partner has checked your credit record with your consent. If something needs checking further, such as an extra income document, it takes longer, and your adviser will tell you exactly what's needed. Once you sign, payout can be the same day, but the timing isn't guaranteed.
Is my loan approved when I submit the form?
No. The website only collects your application. Your adviser confirms your identity and your offer on WhatsApp, and nothing is final until you sign the agreement with our licensed lending partner, where your MyKad is verified. You can still say no at that point at no cost.
What documents do I need?
If you're salaried: your last 3 months' payslips, or 3 months of bank statements showing your salary, and optionally your EPF statement. For a Short-term Loan, your latest payslip or a recent bank statement showing your income is usually enough. If you're self-employed or a gig worker: several months of bank statements, plus platform or e-wallet earnings statements, SSM registration or your Borang B if you have them. For the SME Business Loan: SSM registration and the last 6 months' business bank statements. Your MyKad is verified when you sign. We don't ask for your IC number on the website, and you should send documents only to our official WhatsApp number.
I'm self-employed or a gig worker. Can I apply?
Yes, if you have a steady income. Without a payslip, your income is assessed from other evidence: bank statements showing regular earnings, platform statements from apps such as Grab, Foodpanda or Shopee, and your SSM registration or Borang B if you have them. Having your earnings paid into one account you use consistently helps. Our blog post 'Self-employed or a gig worker? How to apply for a loan with confidence' explains what to prepare.
I'm a foreign worker or expatriate. Can I apply?
No. We can only accept Malaysian citizens and permanent residents. If you hold MyPR, you apply in the same way as a citizen. Be very careful with anyone offering loans to foreign workers: never hand over your passport, pay a fee before receiving a loan, or borrow from an unlicensed lender. Our blog post 'Can foreigners or permanent residents get a personal loan in Malaysia?' explains your options and how to stay safe.
I'm a civil servant. Do you offer salary-deduction (potongan gaji) loans?
No. Civil servants apply like any other salaried applicant, with payslips or bank statements, and repay each month by bank transfer, FPX or JomPAY. We don't offer salary-deduction or Angkasa financing. Our blog post on personal loans for civil servants explains how the two compare and how to avoid scams that target civil servants.
What if my application is declined?
Your adviser will usually tell you the main reason. Common ones are that the instalment would be too large a share of your income, or that the amount is high for your current income. Borrowing less, choosing a longer term, or paying down existing debts can help, and you can apply again when your situation changes. You can also chat with us on WhatsApp about your options.
Can someone apply on my behalf?
No. You must apply, sign and receive the money in your own name. Anyone who charges a fee to "guarantee approval" or "apply for you" is running a scam.
Rates and fees
What are your rates?
One rate for every term: 4.9% p.a. on a reducing balance. Personal Loan terms run from 3 to 108 months and SME Business Loan terms from 6 to 108 months, all at 4.9% p.a. Short-term Loan: 4.9% p.a. (about 0.0136% a day) for 7 to 90 days. Every approved customer pays 4.9% p.a. Your assessment decides whether you're approved and how much we can lend, and your adviser confirms the final offer (amount, term and instalment) on WhatsApp before you sign. See our Rates & fees page for full details.
How is interest calculated?
Personal and SME Business Loans are repaid in equal monthly instalments on a reducing balance. For each instalment, interest = outstanding balance × annual rate ÷ 12, rounded to the sen, and the rest of the instalment repays principal. For example, RM 10,000 over 12 months at 4.9% p.a. is RM 855.62 a month: in month 1, RM 40.83 is interest (RM 10,000 × 4.9% ÷ 12) and RM 814.79 is principal, and RM 267.40 of interest is paid in total. The last instalment clears the balance exactly. Interest is worked out by the day (annual rate ÷ 360 × days) in two cases only: Short-term Loans, where RM 2,000 for 30 days at 4.9% p.a. costs RM 8.17, and when you settle or prepay between due dates, for the days since your last due date.
Are there fees on top of interest?
No. There are no processing, service, admin or membership fees, and nothing is deducted from the amount you receive. All our rates stay well within the 18% p.a. legal cap for unsecured loans. Late payment charges, if any, are set out in your loan agreement.
Another lender quoted me a flat rate. How does it compare with yours?
Our rates are annual rates on a reducing balance, so you're only charged interest on what you still owe. A flat rate charges interest on the full original amount for the whole term, so the same number costs much more. For example, RM 10,000 at 10% flat over 12 months is RM 1,000 of interest, about 17.97% p.a. on a reducing balance, compared with RM 267.40 at our 4.9% p.a. Some low flat rates can still be competitive, so convert before comparing: use the Flat rate converter under Calculators.
Will my rate be different from the advertised one?
No. Every approved customer pays 4.9% a year on a reducing balance, whatever the term. What depends on your income and credit record is whether you're approved and how much we can lend. Your adviser confirms the final offer (amount, term and instalment) on WhatsApp before you sign anything.
Are your loans Shariah-compliant?
No. Our loans are conventional loans from a licensed moneylender and charge interest. They are not Islamic financing and are not certified by a Shariah committee. If Shariah compliance matters to you, Islamic banks offer personal financing based on Islamic contracts. Our blog post 'Islamic financing vs a conventional personal loan' explains the differences in plain terms.
How much can I comfortably borrow?
It depends on your income and what you already repay each month. Our Affordability calculator under Calculators shows a comfortable amount by keeping all your repayments within 40% of take-home pay. For example, if you take home RM 4,000 and already repay RM 900, it suggests about RM 15,500 over 24 months. That's a cautious guide, not our approval rule.
Repayments
How do I repay?
Repay by bank transfer, FPX or JomPAY to the lender's official account shown in your loan agreement, never to a personal account. Send the receipt to your adviser on WhatsApp so the payment is recorded. Your adviser sends repayment reminders on WhatsApp.
Can I settle early, and how much will I pay?
Yes, at any time, with no early settlement penalty or fee. You pay the outstanding principal plus interest only up to the day you settle. For example, on RM 10,000 over 12 months at 4.9% p.a., settling right after the 6th instalment means paying RM 5,061.10 and saves RM 72.58 of interest. Settling between due dates adds interest for the days since your last due date (about RM 6.89 if you settled that loan 10 days later), so the amount changes from day to day. Message your adviser for the exact figure on the day you plan to pay. You can estimate it with the Early settlement calculator under Calculators.
Can I pay extra without settling in full?
Yes, with a partial prepayment of at least RM 1,000 and no penalty. It reduces your outstanding principal, and your remaining instalments are recalculated over the same number of months, so your monthly instalment goes down and your end date stays the same. If you prepay between due dates, you also pay interest on the prepaid amount only, for the days since your last due date. For example, on RM 10,000 over 12 months at 4.9% p.a., prepaying RM 3,000 right after the 6th instalment lowers the instalment from RM 855.62 to RM 348.44 and saves RM 43.02 of interest. Ask your adviser for the exact amount before you pay, and for an updated statement of account afterwards.
What happens if I miss a repayment?
Late payment interest applies as set out in your loan agreement. Under the Moneylenders Act 1951 it is capped at 8% a year simple interest, calculated daily, on the overdue instalment only. Late payment can also make future borrowing harder, so ask your adviser before you sign whether our licensed lending partner reports repayments to any credit reporting agency. Your adviser reminds you on WhatsApp before each due date. If you've missed a payment, pay what you can as soon as you can and message your adviser. Our blog post 'Missed a loan repayment? What happens next and what to do' explains the steps.
I'm struggling to repay. What should I do?
Tell your adviser before the due date, not after: say what has changed, how much you can pay and when. Pay what you can on time, even part of the instalment. Don't take a new loan, especially from an unlicensed lender, to cover it. You can also get free, confidential counselling from AKPK, an agency set up by Bank Negara Malaysia. Our Responsible lending page sets out the steps.
Credit record and safety
When is my credit record checked?
Using our calculators or sending an enquiry doesn't check your credit record. When you submit an application, our licensed lending partner checks CCRIS/CTOS with your consent before your offer is confirmed. Our Loan terms page explains CCRIS and CTOS in more detail.
I have arrears in CCRIS. Can I still apply?
You can apply. Lenders look at how recent and how serious the arrears are, and whether you've caught up, so one late payment months ago is very different from several missed payments now. Before applying, get your free CCRIS report from Bank Negara Malaysia so you know what it shows, and bring any arrears up to date if you can. Being upfront with your adviser helps. Our blog post 'I have late payments in CCRIS. Can I still borrow?' goes into more detail.
How can I check it's really AXAI Credit contacting me?
We only contact you from the WhatsApp number, hotline and email address shown on our Contact page. Our messages greet you by your full name, give your adviser's name and refer to your application. We never ask for a fee before payout, your OTP or TAC, your banking password or your ATM card, and we never ask you to pay into a personal account. If you're unsure, call the hotline on our Contact page. Our page 'How to know it's really us' lists what our real messages say.
Is the lender licensed, and how can I check?
Your loan agreement is with our licensed lending partner, a moneylender licensed by KPKT under the Moneylenders Act 1951. You can check any moneylender against KPKT's official list of licensed moneylenders on its official website: the company name and licence number should match exactly. Our blog post 'How to check that a moneylender is licensed' walks through it.
Is my information safe?
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We don't collect your IC number or bank details on the website. Our Privacy policy explains what we collect, how it's used and who it's shared with, such as our licensed lending partner for your application.
Someone claiming to be from AXAI Credit asked me to transfer money. What should I do?
Hang up. Our staff will never ask you to transfer money to a personal account, share a one-time password (OTP or TAC) from your bank, or install screen-sharing apps. Our advisers only message you from our official WhatsApp number. Call our official hotline if you're unsure. If you've already paid or shared banking details, call your bank and the National Scam Response Centre on 997 immediately, then make a police report.
How do I make a complaint?
Message us on WhatsApp, call our hotline or email us, using the details on our Contact page. Include your name, the mobile number you applied with, what happened and when, any screenshots or receipts, and what you'd like us to do. Don't send your IC number, passwords or OTP. If you're not satisfied with our final answer, you can escalate to KPKT. Our Complaints page explains the process.
