Monthly instalment

What will my monthly instalment be?

Pick an amount and a period to see the monthly instalment, total interest and total repayment for a Personal Loan at 4.9% p.a., our rate for every period. The bars show how each instalment splits between principal and interest.

  • Amounts from RM 1,000 to RM 100,000, over 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108 months.
  • Example: RM 10,000 over 12 months is RM 855.62 a month, with RM 267.40 of interest in total.
  • Interest falls each month because it's charged only on what you still owe.

Three more calculators, with worked examples

Each example below is calculated live with the same code as the calculator, so you can see what you'll get before you open it.

  • How much can I afford?

Check your debt service ratio and a comfortable amount to borrow.

Use it before you apply, to find a loan size your monthly budget can carry.

    Worked example
    • Take-home pay of RM 4,000 a month
    • Existing repayments of RM 900 a month
    • Personal Loan over 24 months
A comfortable amount to borrowRM 15,500

Repayments now take 22.5% of pay. The new instalment would be about RM 679.31 a month at 4.9% p.a., keeping all repayments within 40%.

  • Early settlement

See what settling early or paying part of the loan saves.

Use it if you already have a loan and are thinking of clearing it, or paying part of it, early.

    Worked example
    • RM 20,000 over 24 months at 4.9% p.a.
    • Settled right after instalment 6
    Interest you saveRM 595.71

You'd pay RM 15,181.87 to settle in full. We don't charge an early settlement penalty.

  • Flat rate converter

Find out what a quoted flat rate really costs per year.

Use it when another lender quotes a flat rate, so you can compare it with an annual rate on reducing balance.

    Worked example
    • RM 20,000 at 5% flat
    • Repaid over 24 months
    Equivalent annual rate9.32%

The flat-rate loan has RM 2,000.00 of interest. At our rate of 4.9% p.a. over the same 24 months, the same amount has RM 1,036.76.

Estimates only. Every approved customer pays 4.9% p.a.; your approval and the amount we can lend depend on your assessment, and your adviser confirms your repayments before you sign.

How our calculators work

They run the same calculations as our loan offers and repayment schedules, so the figures match what you'd see before you sign.

Interest only on what you still owe

balance × annual rate ÷ 12

Monthly instalment loans use a reducing balance. Each month's interest is the outstanding balance × annual rate ÷ 12, rounded to the sen. On RM 10,000 at 4.9% p.a., the first month's interest is RM 40.83.

By the day for short periods

amount × annual rate ÷ 360 × days

Short-term Loans, and settling or prepaying between due dates, count interest by the day at the annual rate ÷ 360. RM 2,000 for 30 days at 4.9% p.a. costs RM 8.17.

Equal instalments, exact to the sen

instalment = interest + principal

Every instalment is the same amount except the last, which clears the balance exactly. The principal parts add up to what you borrowed, with nothing added on top.

Nothing is saved or sent

no sign-up, no credit check

The calculations run in your browser. What you enter isn't saved or sent anywhere, and using a calculator doesn't involve a credit check.

What the numbers can't tell you

  • They use our rate of 4.9% p.a., the same for every period. Every approved customer pays this rate; your assessment decides whether you're approved and how much we can lend, and your adviser confirms the final offer before you sign.
  • The 40% affordability guide is a cautious rule of thumb, not our approval rule.
  • Settlement figures assume you pay right after an instalment. Your adviser confirms the exact amount for the day you pay.

Glossary terms

Reducing balance
A way of charging interest only on the amount you still owe, so the interest part of each instalment falls as you repay.
Flat rate
Interest worked out once on the full original amount for the whole tenure, even though you repay part of it every month.
Effective interest rate
The yearly cost of borrowing measured against what you actually still owe each month, which makes it the fair basis for comparing offers.
Daily interest
Interest counted by the number of days, at the annual rate ÷ 360. We use it for short-term loans and for settling or prepaying an instalment loan between due dates.
Debt service ratio (DSR)
The share of your monthly income that goes to debt repayments.
Early settlement
Paying off your whole loan before the end of the tenure.

Questions about the calculators

See all questions

Is the result an offer or an approval?

No. The calculators show estimates at our published rate of 4.9% p.a. Every approved customer pays that rate. Approval and the amount you can borrow are decided by our licensed lending partner, and your adviser confirms your amount, term and instalment on WhatsApp before you sign anything.

Which rates do the calculators use?

4.9% p.a., the same rate for every period. The Personal Loan (3 to 108 months) and the SME Business Loan (6 to 108 months) use the same rate. The affordability calculator covers both loans. The early settlement calculator uses the rate in your own loan agreement.

Does using a calculator affect my credit record?

No. Nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere, and no credit check is made. Our licensed lending partner checks CCRIS/CTOS only after you submit an application, with your consent.

Why does another calculator show different figures?

Some calculators show a rate that compounds the monthly rate over 12 months, which comes out a little higher. Ours shows the annual rate on reducing balance (12 × the monthly rate), the same way we quote our own rates. Settlement figures can also differ if you pay between due dates, because interest is added by the day since your last due date.
